Introduction of location and navigation

YSFTPA is comprised of Xiao Yangshan Port, land area of the port and Donghai Bridge connecting Xiao Yangshan Island and the land area. The first-phase customs area is 8.14 square kilometers, and the second-phase of 6.02 square kilometers was added on February 13th, 2014. By now, the entire planning area of 14.16 square kilometers of YSFTP has started operation.

Xiao Yangshan Port Area

Xiao Yangshan Port Area covers 7.31 square kilometers. The first-phase dock project of the Yangshan Deep-water Port started in June, 2002, and began operation in December, 2005. The second-phase and the third-phase (section A and B) were launched in 2006, 2007 and 2008 respectively. The fourth-phase under planning will build 7 berths for 50,000 to 70,000 tonnage containerships, extending along a coastline of 2.8 kilometers, with designed annual hroughput of 4 million TEUs. It will be put into operation by the end of 2015. So far, the construction of the north part of Yangshan Port is basically completed. Along the 5.6 kilometers coastline, there are 16 berths for

70,000-100,000 tonnage containerships, 47 large quayside container cranes and 190 rubber-tired gantry cranes. Ultra-Panama containerships of 5th and 6th generations have full access to the port around the clock. The management of port area uses the TOPS operation system and remote monitoring system for large equipment.

At present, a dozen international shipping routes to Europe, North America, South America, Africa, the Persian Gulf, the Mediterranean and Southeast Asia were opened in Yangshan, with nearly 400 periodical liners per month.

Donghai Bridge

The Donghai Bridge connects the land area of the YSFTPA with Xiao Yangshan Island, across the broad waters of Hangzhou Bay, with the total length of 32.5 kilometers. The bridge is 31.5 meters wide, two-way, six-lane, and has speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour speed limit, and expected service life of 100 years. It is built to withstand a grade-12 typhoon and a 7-magnitude earthquake. There are four navigable spans is of the bridge, and the main one is 40 meters tall and 400 meters wide, allowing the passage of 10,000-ton vessels.

The bridge has video surveillance system covering the entire span and a monitoring center to meet the supervision requirements of customs, inspection and quarantine bureau, police and maintenance department. Maritime authorities have access to Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) system to monitor navigation safety across the bridge.

Land Area

The land area of YSFTPA, which comprises 6.85 square kilometers, is located at the east of Luchao Port and next to the downtown of Lingang New City and Lingang heavy equipment industrial zone. The functional areas include inspection area, port support area, warehousing and logistics area, international transit area, purchasing and distribution areas, processing area and commercial services area. It focuses on container port value-added services, import, export and transit trade, R&D, processing and manufacturing, bonded logistics, purchasing and distribution, exhibition trade,

international LCL and transit, futures delivery, inspection and maintenance and some transport and financial services such as freight forwarding, shipping agencies, customs declaration, inspection and insurance.

Infrastructure in the area has been completed, including more than 1.5 million square meters of warehouse and storage yards.
